Crockett Bodelson grew up in Santa Fe. Born into a creative family, he began making art as soon as he could hold a pencil. After graduating from high school, Crockett took classes at California College of the Arts in Oakland, where he noticed a tendency among students to abandon their personal styles for those of their teachers or peers. Preferring to follow his own creative lead, Crockett returned to Santa Fe and began devoting most of his free time to painting. Naturally prolific, he stockpiles work and the surplus allows him to have shows, set up shop on the street, continue to supply his collectors (who at last count numbered well over 200) -- and still travel, make music, and pursue other endeavors that enrich his life as an artist. In May of 2006, Crockett had his first one-man gallery show, "Little Creatures," at When, a gallery located at 422 Broadway in Truth or Consequences' Downtown Gallery District. Crockett was the youngest artist to attend 2006's Summer Residency Program at the prestigious Cooper Union School of Art in New York City. Designed for emerging and mid-career artists, the program assists them in developing their work while gaining exposure to the renowned artists, critics, curators, galleries, and museums that New York City has to offer. Soon after Cooper Union, he moved to Philadelphia and has since lived in San Francisco and Berlin. He continues to travel and last we heard, was in Barcelona. Besides exhibiting in TorC (at When) and in Santa Fe (at the Atomic Grill, Skeleton Art, and in a show with Tim Jag at The Aztec Café), Crockett has shown in New York, San Francisco, Houston, Philadelphia, and at Tokyo’s Design Fest. Crockett's minatures were featured in Santa Fean magazine in December of 2006. Crockett also has his own website - www.crockettart.net. |
